This time, the spotlight is on footwear: a pair of tall black leather boots made for Barbie. A few snapshots from my atelier reveal the work behind their sleek, fitted silhouette.
Genuine Leather, is my Personal Choice
For this project, genuine leather was my material of choice. I wanted tall boots with a close-fitting silhouette, a small accessory that could become a striking part of a doll’s outfit.
A Little Patience… and Lots of Clothespins
The work-in-progress photographs show a less glamorous side of miniature fashion: fitting, adjusting, and holding everything in place. Here, clothespins become part of the atelier scene, surrounding the doll’s legs while the boots take shape.

It is a lovely contrast to the finished result. Before an accessory is ready for its close-up, there is a workbench moment when practicality matters more than presentation
Ready for Their First Outfit
The final photograph shows Barbie wearing her tall black boots, with their fitted shafts and shaped feet clearly visible. Even without a complete outfit, they already give her a new look.

Only a few photographs remain of this project, but they preserve a cheerful little story from my atelier: genuine leather, a little patience, lots of clothespins, and the pleasure of seeing the finished boots on the doll.
